For someone like myself, being active has always been part of my life. Playing competitive soccer for many years, going on 5km weekend runs with my dad, and participating in high school sports teams, I have always loved working out and exercising.
As you get older, it gets harder to incorporate exercise into your daily routine. I know when I started university this past fall the walk to the gym from my residence was daunting and watching a movie on Netflix sounded much more appealing. I ended up making it to the gym a few times a week by second semester but it wasn't until a couple weeks ago that I committed to going everyday.
Starting my day with fitness is now my favorite thing to do. Whether it's going on a run, taking a yoga class, lifting weights, or spinning, exercising once a day has had a huge impact on my mood. I start off my day a lot happier, less stressed, and with a sense of accomplishment. For my type A self, completing a task before I have even eaten breakfast makes me ecstatic!
But hey, if exercising in the morning isn't for you; try getting on the treadmill at night while watching American Idol or driving to a Zumba class before dinner. Don't make any excuses! Any kind of exercise is better than nothing!
Life Lesson #2: "I don't have time to exercise" is NOT a valid excuse. People choose to make time for what they love and what they enjoy. You can choose to exercise and you can choose to be happy :)
